ADOPTIVE PARENT
My favorite memory of our family’s adoption story is entering the Gladney Transitional Care parents’ house to meet our baby girl for the first time. When I first saw our daughter, I asked the Transitional Care mom if I could hold her, and she responded, “Of course, she’s your daughter!” Those were the words we had waited about six years to hear—that we had a baby to hold. We were blessed that our daughter had an amazing Transitional Care home, filled with love for her to grow stronger physically until we were able to take her home. There will never be adequate words to express how grateful we are to Rylee’s Transitional Care family for loving her so fiercely and providing amazing care to her.
Even though Gladney is a large agency, the staff members we have worked with from Gladney make it a point to help the adoptive parents with anything that is needed. It was quite a fast-paced scenario between learning about our daughter and taking her home, and the Gladney staff members walked us through each step with a great deal of care and patience.
I hope Rylee always has the same determination and drive that helped her overcome so many health obstacles in the first few months of her life. I pray she knows God has a purpose for her life and that she is a true example of God’s faithfulness. Finally, I hope she always knows in her heart she is loved beyond measure by her birth parents and her adoptive family.
